World Kidney Day

World Kidney Day is commemorated each year to help raise awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD). Chronic kidney disease is a serious condition that affects about 37 million people. Often overlooked until symptoms appear, CKD is progressive and can put you at risk for serious health complications including kidney failure. In many cases, kidney failure can be prevented or delayed through early detection and proper treatment of underlying diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure to slow additional damage to the kidneys. Additionally, one should exercise and switch to healthier lifestyle options which will lead to better kidney health.
